Call for proposals
The Sardinia Radio Telescope invites researchers from around the world to submit proposals for scientific observations. Our state-of-the-art facilities offer wideband radio capabilities, high sensitivity, and flexible backend options to support a diverse range of astrophysical investigations (continuum, spectro-polarimetry, spectroscopy and timing). Proposals are reviewed by an expert time-allocation committee, and resources are allocated to maximize scientific return while ensuring broad access and collaboration opportunities. There are two calls for proposals each year: in October for observations scheduled January–June, and in April for observations scheduled July–December. Additionally, proposals for ToOs and DDT can be submitted anytime.
It is possible to submit proposals to use the SRT as a single dish or as part of extra-EVN interferometry projects that may involve any Italian antennas and international facilities, with PIs encouraged to arrange such collaborations prior to submission.
The observing time at SRT is allocated as follows:
- Single-dish observations, Italian VLBI, and EATING VLBI allocated by the INAF TAC: 40%
- European VLBI Network (EVN): 25%
- Director’s discretionary time: 5%
- Maintenance: 10%
- Italian Space Agency (ASI): 20%
